The Scientific Picnic of Ternopil, Work in our greenhouse - all these were completed by 11 participants of our annual program "On the threshold of independent life" this weekend.

Real world beyond the institution
Socialization of orphanage children is one of the priorities of the team of the Orphans’ Future Foundation. Eleven teens of Berezhny Lyceum and Ternopil Orphanage spent a weekend of independence. This time, the children acquired skills in writing a resume, its content, including participation in public life, as well as job search tools. The students practiced telling about themselves in 2 minutes during the interview in the "elevator". In addition to an important lesson under the guidance of Iryna Yaremchuk, the children had the opportunity to create patriotic keychains in the Dyvotvorchyky Studio. Life Skills training program
A male paratrooper landed at the foundation's base last weekend. The twelve teenagers aged 14-17, from Berezhny and Ternopil care institutions, took part in the Life Skills Program "On the threshold of independent life". This Program has been implemented by our foundation annually since 2012, and its purpose is to give children of care institutions a sense of independence to real life, as well as to increase the level of necessary skills.

Life Skills for orphans on finance management
"Intimately about finances" by Oleksandr Sokhatskyi - Financial advisor, children learned to rationally manage their finances in the game "Life capital". During the game, children plunged into the realities of life in finance and professions. They began to understand about loans, deposits, partnership, investment, 10% as a "safety cushion" from earnings and savings. Even in a difficult moment, you can find a way out if you earn, distribute and spend. And this should be learned from childhood.

Time Management
We continue to help teens feel the "rhythms" of independence outside of residential care. ‘I realized that I should allocate time so that everything was in order. I shouldn’t sign up everywhere, and then I would not have time’, ‘I should properly allocate my time for important and unimportant things’. Such a feedback we received on November 2, after the third workshop on time management for 12 teenagers who are brought up in boarding schools of Ternopil region (Nove Selo, Berezhany, Ternopil orphan home³), within the framework of the annual Program ‘Around the turn of independent living’.

Financial Literacy
‘I have learned about product prices’, ‘I have learned how to spend money in a proper way’, ‘I’ve realized that I do not need to spend all the money at once, but gradually’. These are the feedbacks from students of grades 8-11 of Ternopil orphan homes who participated in the second workshop of the series of workshops conducted within the framework of the program ‘Around the turn of independent living’ on financial literacy that took place this autumn. Teens have learned to make and plan a personal budget, with some income and a rational use of it in the present and in the future. Thanks to speakers, Iryna Vakaliuk, Liza Obleshchak, Iryna Bodnar, Tamara Morozovych, this hands-on workshop helped teens find out how to manage their money effectively during the lifetime.

The Independent Me
With the beginning of the school year, our annual program ‘Around the turn of independent living’ for 16 high school students of 8-11 grades Berezhany and Novosilka boarding schools and Ternopil orphanage began. The first workshop ‘The Independent Me’ was held at the premises of the Information and Resource Center for Orphans on October 19, 2019 and the speakers were: Iryna Vakaliuk, a psychologist and program director of the Foundation, together with TNPU students Tamara Morozovych, Liza Obleshchak and Iryna Bodnar majoring in Social Work , as well as the representatives of the Foundation: Volodymyr Yavorskyi and Andriy Nazarenko who shared their life experiences.
