From December 5 to 7, 2024, The “Unite for Change” forum brought together 47 people with experience growing up in residential care or foster family upbringing in the city of Kyiv. The event was held at the initiative of graduates of residential institutions that are part of “DIyMO - Office of Children and Youth” under the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
Representatives of the government, international and national charitable foundations UNICEF, Save The Children listened to the young people and gave practical advice during master classes and short speeches to the participants.
The atmosphere of the meeting was free and friendly, because everyone there has a common history, past and trauma. This platform became an opportunity for each and everyone to speak out and be heard so that Ukraine changes laws in favor of children living without biological parents.
The participants of the forum received tools to improve their skills and abilities, resources with certain courses for self-development and self-education. To defend the rights and interests of children and youth, everyone must be armed with knowledge and competences.
We thank the organizers and donors who began to support the initiatives of those who care about the problem of orphans and who have experience in residential care.
Three graduates from the Orphans Future Foundation joined the event and took a new look at the state of affairs of children and youth in Ukraine.
