Gaining experience of independence

Finding information about different jobs in the city of Ternopil. Skills needed and monthly salary for each job, were required during the quest. The Scientific Picnic of Ternopil, Work in our greenhouse - all these were completed by 11 participants of our annual program "On the threshold of independent life" this weekend.

Thanks to Jonathan and Mara Pylypiv, we were able to host the children in our house: refueled bus for the transportation of students of the Berezhansky Lyceum (230 km. + 20 km around the city), the purchase of food for preparing breakfast and dinner. The children made their own menu for the weekend: dumplings, chicken, baked potatoes, salads, strawberries in sour cream, canapés. In addition, local cafes joined the program and provided lunches free of charge: Friendly Restaurant "Mamont", cafe "Autoport" and pizzeria "Dobra Pizza". We sincerely thank them for their partnership and help.

During the career orientation quest, the teens developed communication skills, overcame the fear of communicating with new people, learned about the salaries of various professions: salesmen, policemen, consultants, taxi drivers, military personnel, florists, watch repairers, Nova Poshta operators, service stations, trolleybus drivers, a supermarket cashier, a gas station attendant, a seamstress, a security guard at a shopping center, a restaurant administrator, waiters, bartenders, a pharmacist. On average, the salary ranges from 8,000 to 15,000 hryvnias per month.

In our greenhouse, those who wished pulled out weeds and watered peppers, tomatoes and lettuce.

After visiting the Scientific Picnic of Ternopil, students were interested in various experiments in electronics, chemistry, physics, military and emergency services equipment, products made on a 3D printer, electric bikes, or health and artistic locations. For themselves, the children have got positive impressions and this is a step towards choosing their future career.

In the foundation house, some children liked to rest and just do nothing. Also, the children liked to walk around the city, get to know new places or ride bikes.

Each such visit for three days for 12 participants costs approximately UAH 4,000. This is a great investment in the development of the future. Those wishing to support the program "On the threshold of an independent life" can apply and contact us.

We thank the care institutions of Berezhany Lyceum and Ternopil Orphanage for their cooperation and belief in a better life for children deprived of parental care.
