From October 25 to 29, 12 teenagers from Ternopil and Berezhany spent time at the charity house away from their institutions.
- The teenagers received practical advice and tools for effective communication and constructive conflict resolution during a two-day training course of 7 hours from Maksym and Kateryna Grigorevyh.
- The young people cycled around Autumn Ternopil through the park and around the lake thanks to the partnership with the Caritas Ternopil charitable foundation bringing great pleasure to the children.
- Together with volunteers from the USA, Tiffany, Jen, Jessica and Sean, as well as from the UK, Ken and Paul, the children baked and decorated cookies, and played basketball and table tennis.
Over the course of 4 days, girls and boys improved their ability to prepare menus and budgets, purchase ingredients, cook for themselves, clean up after themselves, and learn to find their own way around Ternopil.
The children had the opportunity to visit the restaurant Fine Misto where they were allowed to choose their own items from the menu. After the meal, they were given the choice to go ice skating or to the cinema with popcorn and cola, paid for by the supporters from the USA and Great Britain. Children were able to practice speaking English with the charity guests.
Systematic mentoring is an important moment in the lives of children living in institutions of institutional care.
We thank Volodia for his dedication and patience helping the teens prepare for independent life. In addition, both Zoryana and Andriy, who spent time talking to and listening to the children, hearing their stories and offering guidance and advice where appropriate.
