“Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I will remember. Let me do it myself, and I will understand" Confucius.
New participants from Ternopil and Berezhan gathered together on September 27-29, 2024, to learn about the conditions for participation in the "On the threshold of independent life" Program. During the next 8 months, 12 teenagers aged 14-16 years will live in home-like conditions in the building of the Orphans Future charitable foundation. The children will have the opportunity to form and consolidate the skills and abilities necessary for self-reliance, independence in independent life:
- the ability to manage finances,
- the ability to plan one's time and affairs in order to do everything in time and achieve goals
- the ability to take care of yourself and your health,
- the ability to cook for oneself,
- the ability to communicate with people and resolve conflicts,
- the ability to look for a job of your choice and write a resume and pass an interview/interview,
- the ability to cope with stress, one's fears and emotions,
- the ability to counteract violence and bullying,
- the ability to recognize fakes and fraud and to think critically,
- the ability to establish relationships, the ability to maintain cleanliness and order,
- the ability to value and have one's dignity,
- the ability to find the necessary information about one's rights and obligations,
- the ability to use public transport, buy tickets and use navigation.
The work was done in teams: two or four participants. Everyone had the opportunity to express their opinion and position regarding skills and abilities, what is the difference and which skills are priority.
During the weekend, the children made their own menus and a list of necessary products, bought them for real money and prepared meals for themselves:
pasta with meat,
salads with cheese, tomato and cucumbers,
buckwheat with anchovies,
hot sandwiches,
flatbreads with cheese and raisins.

We would like to thank the institutions that are long-term partners of the "On the threshold of independent life" program for the delicious lunches: pizzeria "Stara Pizzeria", restaurant "Three Mykola", and cafe "The best Kids". Thanks to lunches, children have the opportunity to spend more time learning and learning new things.
Anya and Denis from the public organization visited the children to congratulate and get to know the Program participants. Children listened with interest to their life stories and their role in the Program.
The cost of each three-day module for 12 participants is UAH 10,000.
