Shopping with St. Nicholas

This year, St. Nicholas and supporters provided children deprived of parental care with the opportunity to shop for Christmas gifts.

Supporters and mentors, who are in regular contact with the children from the Ternopil Oblast were on hand to advise each child, help St. Nicholas, and share the joy and fun of the experience.

For the second year in a row, the St Nicholas celebration for our boys and girls was conducted in an interesting and interactive way. Each child was given a budget of UAH 1,000 to spend over an hour and a half in a shopping centre with the help and support of adult mentors and supporters. The children browsed, debated, selected, and swapped items over and over again, eventually choosing what they wanted. Even though it was a challenge, each child kept to their budget. After shopping, some children shared their impressions while drinking tea and eating cake in a café.

The children were especially pleased with the postcard they received from St. Nicholas with New Year's and Christmas greetings on them. Previously, children wrote letters to St. Nicholas to ask for gifts. It was pleasant to see the children respond to letters written to them this time, handed out by St. Nicholas.

Thank you to the little helpers, students of 7-B, 7-B, 6-A, 6-G, and 3-B classes of TNVK "School-Lyceum 6 named after N. Yaremchuk" head - Anna Melymuka Benko, volunteers Sochy Lyudmila, Yulia Varvarinets , Liuba Perozhak, Ken Surridge, Liliya, Maryana and Oksana are employees of the shopping centre.

Here are some responses from children that participated in the event of "Shopping with St. Nicholas".

"It was interesting to buy myself what I wanted as a gift"

"I liked walking around the shopping center with Nikolay and choosing a present for myself"

"It was very nice to drink hot tea with a cake in the cafe, after we bought gifts for ourselves, and Mykolay also gave us postcards with greetings"

"Who wrote this greeting? I say Thank you."

This holiday for children deprived of parental care would not have taken place if it were not for our defenders of Ukraine, who ensure the safety of our people. We thank you sincerely and heartily.
