On December 15, 2011, Ukraine awarded winners of the national contest Benefactor of the Year 2011 at the Kyiv Art Institute. This was the fifth consecutive year for the contest. This year, independent judges and Board of Trustees of the contest received more than 160 applications from individuals, organizations and philanthropists from throughout Ukraine. From the applications, the independent judges and the Board of Trustees chose those whose 2011 projects had an effective impact on society. Ternopil Regional Charitable Foundation Orphans Future received a special award National Benefactor of 2011 by the president of the Association of Philanthropists, Alexander Maksymchuk. (Photo).

Andriy Nazarenko, Chairman of the Foundation, and Vitaly Tanchyk, an active volunteer of the organization and former student of Koropets boarding school went to Kyiv on December 15th to accept the award. In the morning, a meeting was held during which speakers discussed the current situation of Ukrainian charities and the current status of legislation on this issue. The meeting was attended by well known Ukrainian actors, show business representatives, politicians, and writers. All of those present have concern about the many problems faced by Ukrainian society. After lunch, about twenty charities, including Orphans Future, presented their successful 2011 projects. The participants discussed cooperation between philanthropists in solving urgent societal problems in Ukraine and that we need to actively involve our local communities and teach them not to indifferent about these problems.

An additional note is that in 2007 Orphans Future was awarded Benefactor 2007 only for the Ternopil region and received the award personally from Katrina Yushchenko, the wife of the former president of Ukraine.
