On December 19th when all Ukrainian families celebrate St.Nicolas Day, Orphans’ Future volunteers together with the Charitable Fund “Podolyany” invited one hundred orphan children from nine state-run orphanage boarding schools to celebrate the holiday at St.Nicolas Residence which took place at Podolyany Concert Hall of Ternopil City. Thanks to Podoliany and volunteer Oksana Kreptsa, St. Nicolas Residence was decorated festively so the children really could feel the soul of the Christmas holidays.
As soon as the children arrived in Ternopil, six volunteers treated them with delicious pizza and juice which were donated by the local pizza place “Stara Pizeria”. All the children enjoyed the Christmas and New Year performance which was presented by thirty talented children from Ternopil Creative Center for Children and Youth. The orphans had an unforgettable experience watching performances of acrobat girls from Fit Kid center. During the play time with fairy tale characters from the Voonderkinder Theatre Studio, the orphans enjoyed different activities and showed off their talents by singing songs and telling Christmas poems to St.Nicolas. Everyone had an opportunity to get a prize from St.Nicolas and the children just had fun. At the end, all the children received lots of sweet gifts, fruits (bananas, mandarin oranges), schools supplies, hygienic items, and toys which were collected by the local community and purchased by many kind friends of the orphans: pizzeria “Mayak”, Olena and Tetiana Dvorska’ business, “A.N.T.”, Olya Dmytryk and The Global Fund For Children. After the performances, the children had a holiday dinner at “Khmilne Schastya” restaurant. The sincere smile and sparkle in the orphans’ eyes made the holiday truly festive and fulfilling.
To support orphans and share warm words of greetings with them, came representatives from Ternopil regional government: Rostyslav Drozd, the director of Ternopil state department of Child Care; Yuriy Yuryk, the deputy of Ternopil state administration; Tetyana Chubak, the head of Charitable Fund “Podolyany”; and of course our board members of Orphans’ Future, Volodymyr Yavorskyy and Iryna Vakaluik.
Orphans’ Future is thankful to our photographers Vasil Menkiv and Mykola Kindzerski, who volunteered at this event and took great photos of the children.
Special thanks to the Global Fund for Children for covering the transportation costs to bring a hundred orphans to Ternopil from all rural areas of Ternopil region for this special holiday for all the children of Ukraine.
We are thankful to every kind supporter who contributed their time and money to make this celebration possible and bring attention and care to these less fortunate children. Together we can do much more for our orphans.
