On September 30, 2014 there was a meeting of the twelve orphanage (boarding school) directors of the Ternopil region. The main topics discussed during the meeting were in regard to improving the educational outcomes for children in orphanage boarding schools.
Lubomyr Krupa, the Head of the Department of Education and Science of the regional government, identified the urgent tasks that need to be addressed to obtain these outcomes, such as how to access the up to date resources available in the wider community, thereby providing more relevant education for the modern world.
The discussions about the need cooperation between orphanage directors and the charitable organizations in regard to child welfare and transition orphan graduates to independent life outside the orphanages, was led by Iryna Chorna, the head of the Community Educational Committee and Andriy Nazarenko, the head of the charitable organization Orphans’ Future. Orphans’ Future was admitted to the Committee which aims to develop child protection awareness at the boarding schools.
