PArtnership for youTH training

From July 2 to 8, 2014, three members of the Orphans Future staff, Irina, Boguslava and Andriy, were involved in a six-day international training program called, "Partnership for Youth", held in Kyiv, Ukraine. The event brought together about 40 young people aged 16 to 25 who had been in care situations of different types eg in institutions like orphanages or in foster care, from five different countries (Moldova, Georgia, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Ukraine). The organizer of the training was the international charity organization, Partnership for Every Child (Kyiv), with which Orphans Future has had a long-term partnership.

The participants worked in groups to study systems of care in different countries comparing and discussing similarities and differences and the positive and negative aspects of each. As a result of active work and study, the participants developed recommendations that were presented to the authorities at the final conference on the last day. In addition, young people had the opportunity to ask the authorities questions about problems in the care systems and get answers.

The result for Orphans Future participants was the idea to establish national and international networks of youth who were or are in the care system, to provide opportunities for discussion, conferences and training and to share experiences and practices to bring about the best possible outcomes in the lives of children in care.

In addition to training, the participants had the opportunity to see the sights of the city of Kyiv, and enjoy some recreational activities like bowling, or to just take part in cultural exchange evenings.
